Job Description

The Distillery Restaurants Corp., creators of Cluny Bistro, El Catrin, Pure Spirits Oyster House & Grill, Archeo Trattoria, Madrina Bar y Tapas, District Pizza and Distillery Events (the Fermenting Cellar and The Distillery District®- Loft) are seeking an experienced and motivated full-time Café Supervisor with a passion for supporting a team and creating an exceptionally crafted customer service experience for every guest. The ideal candidate not only understands that exceptional guest service is at the heart of hospitality but that they are an ambassador to Torontos unique food and beverage culture.Please note, you must have legal permission to work in Canada to be considered for this role.What you’ll experience with The DRC:

What you’ll be doing:
  • Support and maintain a work culture that revolves around respect, inclusion and the experience and enjoyment of food.
  • Execute guest and service action plans that emphasize quality, standards of service and productivity.
  • Supervise the shop floor and flow of business, including setup and maintenance of the shop and equipment.
  • Assist in scheduling staff to meet service expectations while considering labour costs.
  • Order product and take inventory as necessary.
  • Work with the team to control costs by reviewing portion control and quantities of preparation while minimizing waste.
  • Generate growth in sales by suggesting/participating in marketing initiatives.
  • Liaise with Cluny’s General Manager and The DRC’s Talent and Culture team to coach, recruit and train employees.
  • Demonstrate business ethics, high personal integrity, and take every opportunity to promote the venue and the DRC.
  • Fulfill other duties as required.
What you’ll bring to the café:
  • A LOVE FOR COFFEE AND TEA. You possess impeccable product knowledge.
  • EXPERIENCE. You’ve got five (5) or more years of experience in the hospitality industry with a minimum of two (2) years working in a café.
  • KNOWLEDGE. You graduated with a Business, Hospitality, or Food + Beverage degree/diploma and/or the equivalent in education and experience.
  • CERTIFICATIONS. You’ve got your Smart Serve certification (required). Others, such as Prudhomme, WSET, etc. are considered an asset.
  • GENUINE WARMTH. You’re someone who demonstrates excellent serving standards and has the ability to build lasting relationships with our guests and colleagues alike.
  • POS WIZARDRY. You’re computer literate in Point-of-Sale software (Silverware preferred)
