Job Description

Position Title: Chief Marketing Officer / Brandamp; Communications Lead Location: Remote / Hybrid Reports To: Managing Partner Compensation: Market-driven deferred salary, performance-linked incentives, and equity participation Search Mandate: Yorktown Search Partners is conducting a confidential executive search on behalf of a private client operating in the investment, media, and capital advisory space.Role Overview:Yorktown Search Partners has been engaged to identify a Chief Marketing Officer / Brandamp; Communications Lead for a confidential client-an emerging investment and media platform focused on M amp;A, co-investments, and media-powered capital partnerships.This is a rare, founder-level opportunity for a marketing executive who blends creative vision with commercial rigor. The CMO will lead the strategic development of the firms brand identity, content architecture, public positioning, and thought leadership. Your work will elevate visibility in capital markets, attract top-tier deal flow, and position the firm as a magnet for founders, investors, and ecosystem partners.Compensation is based on a market-driven deferred salary, supplemented by performance-linked incentives and equity participation that reflect long-term value creation.Key Responsibilities:Brand Strategyamp; Positioning

  • Architect and implement the firms brand framework, tone of voice, and design identity
  • Craft a compelling brand story that speaks to LPs, founders, and the broader investment ecosystem
  • Embed the firms investment philosophy and differentiated value proposition into all communications
Thought Leadership, PRamp; Content
  • Lead the firms content strategy and own the editorial calendar across all channels
  • Launch flagship campaigns including founder interviews, market outlooks, and deal highlights
  • Develop premium marketing collateral: investor decks, media kits, branded newsletters, and research content
  • Cultivate relationships with press, podcast hosts, and content creators to drive earned media
Ecosystem Partnershipsamp; Media Collaborations
  • Drive media-for-equity campaigns and strategic influencer collaborations
  • Spearhead relationships with journalists, industry panels, and media platforms to amplify brand reach
  • Serve as a spokesperson and public representative at high-profile capital and business events
Digital Infrastructureamp; Growth Marketing
  • Manage the firms digital presence (site, socials, analytics, newsletter, and paid media where applicable)
  • Oversee execution of LinkedIn-led content strategy with focus on consistency, quality, and conversion
  • Collaborate with agency partners and in-house stakeholders to ensure excellence in delivery
Ideal Candidate Profile:
  • 10+ years in brand strategy, marketing, or communications-ideally within investment firms, professional services, or digital media
  • Proven ability to build and grow executive-caliber brands from inception
  • Deep experience in storytelling, financial communications, and capital markets messaging
  • Comfort working in lean environments where high-impact execution is prioritized over scale
  • Ability to balance creativity with performance-oriented campaigns and ROI
  • Strong project management and agency collaboration skills
Ideal First Hire:The CMO will be expected to build a nimble marketing operation, starting with a Marketing Manager or fractional Agency Partner focused on LinkedIn distribution, investor-facing content, and visual brand consistency.Compensationamp; Alignment:This role includes a market-driven deferred salary, combined with firm-wide performance incentives and equity ownership.
