Join our team today!Reporting to the Director, Cardiovascular and Chronic Disease Programs, the Clinical Nurse Specialist is responsible for advancing nursing practice in the area of wound prevention and management (pressure injuries, diabetic foot ulcers, arterial and venous ulcers, etc.). The successful candidate will be a clinician who leads the development, implementation and evaluation of standards of practice to ensure consistency with best practice guidelines. The mandate of this position is to be a role model, consultant and advocate in order to improve patient care and nursing practice. The successful applicant will combine clinical expertise and experience with advanced academic knowledge in order to integrate best practice(s) into the care delivery system.The Clinical Nurse Specialist role involves close collaboration with stakeholders to facilitate change and promote staff and patient/family satisfaction within a philosophy of patient centered care. In that context, the Clinical Nurse Specialist performs various functions including participating in the development of quality management and evaluation tools, as well as enhancing staff skills in the area of patient/family education, pressure injury prevention and wound management. The Clinical Nurse Specialist will provide direct patient care by performing comprehensive health assessments, develop a plan of care, provide treatment options and evaluate outcomes for patients with complex wounds. This individual will be required to coordinate and conduct educational programs or in-service training sessions on wound management to nurses and contribute to the overall corporate framework for wound prevention and management.Accountabilities:Support Osler in becoming a Registered Nursing Association of Ontario Best Practice Spotlight Organization in wound prevention and managementDevelop and support a wound strategy and team with urgent consult abilityProvide inpatient wound consultationPerform a variety of medical procedures including: wound dressings, debridements, compression wrapping, doppler assessments, nail careAssist with biopsies, application of pressure bandages, etc.Review and triage eReferrals to Osler sitesSupport wound clinic at Etobicoke General Hospital once a week (Wednesday)eReferral data analysis from Osler sitesDevelopment and support of wound management strategy for the Ontario Health TeamConduct and support corporate orientation and educationMembership to CorHealth vascular strategy and limb salvage strategies at OslerSupport prevalence and incidence studiesMaster #39;s degree in nursingMinimum of five years recent clinical experience in wound managementInternational Interprofessional Wound Care Course completion or Nurses Specialized in Wound, Ostomy and Continence Canada (CNA certification)Knowledge and recent experience with sharp and mechanical debridement (preferred)Ability to seek out, review and synthesize relevant practice literature to promote evidence informed careEvidence of knowledge of professional issues in nursing, and membership in professional organization(s)Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint requiredDemonstrated excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, critical thinking and project management skillsDemonstrated excellent interpersonal, communication (written, verbal and English comprehension) and negotiation skillsDemonstrated collaborative practice as an integral member of an interdisciplinary teamDemonstrated knowledge of adult learning theoryHighly motivated, self-directed with demonstrated ability to work well and provide leadership/change leadership with interdisciplinary teamsStrong change management skills with proven project management abilities as evidenced by previous experience and accomplishmentsExcellent attendance, punctuality and work recordWill be required to work and travel between all Osler sitesMust demonstrate Osler #39;s Values of Respect, Excellence, Service, Compassion, Innovation and CollaborationHours: Currently, mostly days, some evenings or early mornings are required (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)#LI-HD1Osler values inclusivity and diversity in the workplace.
