The Respiratory Therapy Department is a key partner in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of care for critically ill patients across St. Michael’s Hospital and a leader in academic practice as demonstrated in collaborative education activities and research in respiratory health and disease. Integration of research, education and patient care, and leadership in innovation and technology adoption, are key facets of our interprofessional vision for the Centre of Excellence in Mechanical Ventilation (CoE MV).The primary role of the Clinical Specialist – Centre of Excellence in Mechanical Ventilation (CoEMV) is to support our tri-partite agenda of academic practice – clinical care, education and research, by demonstrating advanced knowledge, skill and judgement to collaboratively lead the CoEMV. The CoEMV at St. Michael Hospital leads in personalized and evidence-based mechanical ventilation through collaborative practice, education, research and innovation. The Clinical Specialist – CoEMV will function under strong relationships with the Respiratory Therapy Department, Physiology Lab, Critical Care Department, and the Canadian Critical Care Research Unit to contribute to the best care experiences for patients and their families requiring Critical Care.This role will lead the integration of innovations in mechanical ventilation into clinical practice. This role will support staff, physician, and learner education and knowledge translation of best practices in mechanical ventilation. This role supports the ongoing research in mechanical ventilation by contributing to manuscripts, assist with screening for recruitment into studies, collection of data on specific relatable mechanical ventilation studies, acting as the liaison between the Respiratory Therapists, the Critical Care Physicians, Registered Nursing staff, learners, Physiology lab members, and Industry partners.This role is 1 year contract position with opportunity to become permanent position within Unity Health Toronto.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
