You will join a team of seasoned professionals who are looking to develop Mott MacDonald’s presence in Canada and beyond.We are looking for adaptable, self-motivated students who are excellent working both individually, as well as in a team to join us. We need you to be able to build and maintain strong relationships with both your colleagues and external clients through excellent verbal and written communication. A strong attention to detail is essential, as well as having a methodical approach to problem solving. We will expect you to draw on your university and employment experiences to manage your time effectively and to meet deadlines. This is a minimum 3-month co-op position based out of our Vancouver, BC office. This position will be for the fall co-op season starting in September.As a co-op student, your responsibilities may include:

  • An introduction to conceptual, preliminary and detailed design An introduction to site inspection, investigations and monitoring
  • Support designers and engineers in research, design, calculation, and preparation of technical reports, specifications and studies
  • Preparing conceptual and detailed AutoCAD and Civil3D design drawings for rail & transit or civil engineering design
  • Technical writing and communications
  • Project support and administration
We offer a hybrid work arrangement with both in-office and at home working potential. Our work does at times require in person site meetings as well as face-to-face meetings while maintaining safety protocols. In 2021, Mott MacDonald became the first company in our sector to be certified Carbon Neutral, globally.To be considered for this internship position, you will currently be working towards a bachelors or masters degree in Electrical, Computer, Software, Mechatronics, or Systems Design Engineering with a focus on integrated systems, communications, automation, or security. You should be able to demonstrate your interest in your chosen sector through relevant experience, such as studying relevant modules or previous work experience. Youll also have:
  • A demonstrated interest in infrastructure projects such as rail and transit, airports, marine ports, and hospitals
  • Commitment to sustainability and reducing climate change, including a passion for finding ways to make a difference in our communities and globally
  • A methodical approach to problem solving
  • Prior relevant internships, co-ops or practical work-experience preferred
  • An ability to use your initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently
  • Adept verbal communication skills, which allow you to confidently liaise with clients and team member
  • Excellent written communication and attention to detail and ability to demonstrate accurate technical drawings and write accurate reports
