Reporting to the Vice President with a dotted line to the Chief Compliance Officer, you #39;ll play a pivotal role in safeguarding our client #39;s institutions against financial crimes. Your responsibilities include monitoring transactions, maintaining sanction lists, and validating client documentation to uphold the highest standards of Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorist Financing compliance. You #39;ll collaborate across various departments, contribute to risk assessments, and help develop and deliver training to stay ahead of emerging trends.   • Responsible for monitoring and investigating transaction activities using risk monitoring tools, both internal and external, to identify potential financial crimes such as money laundering, sanctions violations, corruption, and fraud.
  • Compile data needed for local and Head Office reporting metrics and dashboards, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of compliance-related information.
  • Manage and maintain various sanction lists and client databases to ensure that the organization does not engage with sanctioned individuals or entities.
  • Review and validate client Know Your Customer (KYC) documents to ensure compliance with local regulations and Head Office requirements, reducing the risk of regulatory violations.
  • Track and oversee the completion of periodic KYC reviews for clients to ensure ongoing compliance and risk assessment.
  • Assist or lead investigations related to financial crimes, collaborating with external stakeholders when necessary, and taking action to mitigate risks.
  • Reconcile KYC database information with the books and records system to maintain data accuracy and integrity.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with various business units and functional areas to facilitate effective communication and management of AML/ATF regulatory risk issues.
  • Contribute to the completion of the annual AML/ATF risk assessment in accordance with the organization #39;s internal processes and policies.
  • Participate in the development and delivery of training programs to ensure awareness of emerging risk patterns and trends. Additionally, provide compliance support to different functions and business operations, helping them develop and document compliance procedures.
What You Must Bring to This Role:
  • University Degree or College Diploma in finance, business, HR, economics, or a related field of study.
  • 5+ years of compliance experience in a Canadian or International Bank, preferably within a corporate banking or lending environment.
  • Strong AML/KYC experience with experience reviewing and understanding transaction surveillance.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements pertaining to AML and Banking Compliance (OSFI, and FINTRAC).
  • Ability to interpret and operationalize regulatory requirements and conduct independent research when required.
  • Strong organization and interpersonal skills including the ability to multi-task and manage deadlines effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; must be reliable, trustworthy, detail-oriented, articulate, and a great team player.
