Job Description

My Client is seeking a Controller, you will be partnering with the Senior Regional Controller and manage the financial and administration affairs of the assigned regions/company in accordance with Corporate Policy.This role in Onsite in Scarborough Ontario Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Set up jobs, cost codes, billing markup rate tables for all new contracts and or work orders as required
  • Assist operations with any job start up requirements
  • Prepare salary recovery worksheets and other cost transfer forms and post
  • Perform monthly billing of jobs/work orders and send to clients
  • Post journal entries, perform bank reconciliations and reconcile required general ledger accounts as required
  • Assist operations with updates to jobs (i.e. productivity, change orders, cost codes)
  • Perform month end process related to jobs (i.e. closeouts, profit recognition, unbilled work orders) and update of accounting wip reports
  • Assist operations with preparation of any ad hoc reports related to job performance
  • Resolve any vendor payment disputes
  • Assist with collection of accounts receivable when required
  • Plan, organize and undertake the period close process including preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure conformity with internal accounting policies and business processes as well as compliance with established internal controls, including approval requirements with a keen eye toward cost control and accuracy
  • Support ongoing business planning and quarterly forecasting processes as well as annual strategic planning exercise
  • Ensure integrity of financial data and systems and adherence to Corporate reporting timelines
  • Ensure management of general ledger
  • Participation in annual external audit
  • Complete and review month-end reconciliations and budget variance analyses
  • Manage cash flow and other company assets
  • Provide financial recommendations and ideas when new business initiatives are proposed

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS· Minimum of a diploma in Business Administration – Accounting or a degree in Finance· CPA designation a requirementWORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an Accounting Manager/Assistant Controller position
  • Prior experience in a construction or engineering company preferred
SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency with advanced Excel skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Advanced Excel knowledge and systems aptitude
  • Knowledge of JDE Edwards or comparable ERP system preferred
