Job Description

As the provinces heritage agency, the Ontario Heritage Trust is dedicated to preserving, protecting and promoting Ontarios rich and diverse heritage.We are looking for a Coordinator to oversee the effective delivery of the interpretation, programs, operations, partnership and oversight functions of the Trusts cultural heritage sites in Eastern Ontario.This position offers a unique career opportunity to work with multi-disciplinary teams on a number of interesting and diverse projects.NOTE: This position requires the successful candidate to work full-time, onsite in Brockville overseeing the museums programs and activities. Some travel to Toronto may be required.What can I expect to do in this role

  • Supervise and coordinate all activities and programs associated with the operation of two National Historic Sites including revenue generation, business fundraising, corporate sponsorships, capitol improvements, health, safety and fire prevention, security, maintenance, special events, volunteer and education programs.
  • Develop and coordinate public education, special events and interpretive products aimed at increasing attendance, improving visitor satisfaction by enhancing their knowledge and appreciation of the sites and fostering an understanding of a defined period in Canadian history.
  • Collaborate with cultural collection staff members, archaeologist on a variety of activities associated with site interpretation, research, collection management, exhibition development etc.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to volunteers, staff and summer students
How do I qualifyProgram, Marketing and Health and Safety Knowledge
  • You understand the legislative framework, policies and processes related to the Ontario Heritage operations and purchasing, procurement and budgeting requirements.
  • You can apply the principles of marketing and promotion to increase the visibility of the National Historic sites to stimulate interest from the perspective of customers and tourist.
  • You understand health, safety and fire legislation and regulations to ensure the safety of staff, tourists, clients, school groups.
Communication, Interpersonal and Advisory Skills
  • You possess effective oral and written communication, presentation, interpersonal and advisory skills to provide advice and recommendations, correspond with the public and interest groups to market and promote the museums, build partnerships, and provide input on business plans.
Project Management and Computer Skills
  • You have project management and coordination skills to oversee activities and programs associated with the operation of two National Historic Sites/museums and in the development and delivery of interpretive products, education programs and events.
  • You have experience using computers and standard software to prepare reports and correspondence, access databases, research information, prepare weekly spreadsheets etc.
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills
  • You have demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and prioritize challenges and assess and resolve problems and recommend action for resolution.
