Manage/support credit coverage with moderate oversight from the Senior Credit Officers for Financial Institution clients.Primary Accountabilities:

  • Preparation of detailed credit analyses and credit application requests, including evaluation of corporate, regulatory and industry risk, historical operating performance, projected operating performance and capital structure.
  • Responsible for the coordination and communication of account information across various constituencies throughout the organization.
  • Responsible for developing a solid understanding of assigned industry sectors and customer segments as well as tracking of current events in assigned portfolio utilizing internal and external sources.
  • Oversight of covenant compliance database and facility closing due diligence, including documentation, as well as coordination of transaction closing process.
  • Attend customer and bank meetings when appropriate.
  • Special projects as assigned.
Advanced Credit/Underwriting Solutions:
  • Prescreen proposed transactions to identify critical structural issues and risks, balancing institutional policy with business objectives with guidance from Senior Credit Officers.
  • Assist on structured credit transactions (including Financial Solution opportunities, securitizations, supply chain finance and leasing transactions) with guidance from Senior Credit Officers.
Policy and Deal Advocacy:
  • Assist Senior Credit Officers in internal policy development by participating in committees, project teams, or transaction discussions.
  • With guidance from Senior Credit Officers, communicate with Relationship Managers and Portfolio Managers to resolve issues to ensure transaction requests are acceptable and within the risk appetite of the firm.
  • Evaluate and establish/confirm appropriate ratings for transactions and advise on appropriate exposure level in the context of guidelines for transaction and group level exposure.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policy and regulatory requirements.
Technical Skills:
  • Strong financial assessment and analytical skills are required; financial modeling experience is desirable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Verbal and written communication skills appropriate for a professional environment.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure.
Experience Required:
  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience within a financial institution (analyzing corporate clients risk and credit profiles), accounting firm or rating agency required. Prior focus on Financial Institutions, especially insurance, is desirable.
Education Required:
  • Bachelors degree in Business, or related major, with work towards a higher degree (MBA) or certification (such as CFA) is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience within a financial institution (analyzing corporate clients risk and credit profiles), accounting firm or rating agency required. Prior focus on Financial Institutions, especially insurance, is desirable.
  • Completion of formal credit-training program at a money center bank is a plus.
