Job Description

What is the opportunityThis opportunity will be based in Toronto and the Building Envelope Engineer will be responsible for the preparation of full structural design packages for curtain wall systems. Design materials will primarily focus on glass, aluminum and light gauge metal. In addition to standard design manuals, extensive use of building codes and building design specifications will be required.At this time, we are looking for a candidate interested in attaining a diverse knowledge of curtain wall, and structural aluminum design and who has a passion for contributing to the creative and dynamic solutions to the problems that face our buildings of today.What will you doAs a Building Envelope Engineer at Entuitive, your duties and responsibilities will include the following:

  • Work in all aspects of the building envelope service with a focus on curtain wall design and aluminum materials
  • Research of new products and systems as needed for the servicing of a portfolio of projects related to curtain wall design
  • Design and develop custom curtain wall systems with a focus on aluminum materials
  • View and stamp project drawings as a professional engineer
  • Review of submittals and shop drawings during construction
  • Coordination with other team members to provide training, structural evaluation
  • Preparation of project deliverables, including but not limited to proposals, investigation of results, construction drawings, specifications, and technical reports
  • Review and approve design and details during all phases of submission
  • Field review and other contract administrative duties as required
  • Implementation and adherence of Entuitive’s quality assurance programs to ensure that services meet Entuitive’s standards and our client’s expectations
  • Internal roles in the ongoing development our technical standards and design tools
  • Other responsibilities as required
RequirementsWhat do you need to succeed
  • Minimum 7-10 years’ experience in building envelope engineering including significant technical experience in detailing of the interface of different assemblies or components
  • Bachelor’s degree in building science, civil engineering, or equivalent training
  • Engineering experience in aluminum and light gauge metal, with experience designing curtain wall systems, or panelized wall systems
  • Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario is required
  • Experience in engineering using light gauge studs, aluminum, and light gauge metal
  • Must have a working knowledge and ability to use programs such as AutoCAD, Revit, SAP, ETAB, and Mathcad
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written with the ability to manage complex situations with multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to work well alone with minimal supervision
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
  • Experience working at heights and with suspended access is considered an asset
  • Access to a passport and desire to travel for work is an asset
