Job Description

A seasoned data governance professional with investments domain experience, the Data Governance Lead will manage and lead Capital Markets’ Data Governance Program implementation and roadmap. This role reports into the Capital Markets’ Data Governance Committee (DGC) and Chair, consulting and working with a variety of stakeholders and groups in OMERS including the DGC, investment managers and analysts, and Enterprise Data Governance.Please note this is a 6-month Contract with the possibility of extension.Key responsibilities:Establish and govern a data governance program implementation roadmap including strategic priorities for development of information-based capabilitiesRoll out a Capital Markets data governance framework, with a focus on improvement of data quality through modifications to organization behavior policies and standards, principles, governance metrics, processes, related tools, and data architectureWork with the DGC to define roles of data owners, stewards, and custodians; work with the business to explain these roles; identify and document for data assets in scope of the ProgramCatalog data assets including metadata and data lineageSupport the creation of new data polices, standards and guidelinesSupport baselining data quality and the setting of standards for monitoringQualifications:Must have:Demonstrated consulting/leadership skills, with change management concepts and strategies, including strong communication, presentation, and collaboration skillsKnowledge of industry leading data quality management practicesKnowledge of data governance practices, asset management and technology issues related to the management of data assetsExperience establishing data governance policies, standards guidelinesDemonstrates:Strong orientation towards strategy, change and resultsExcellent collaboration and communication skillsDriven self-starterEagerness and ability to learnNice to have:Experience working and communicating with senior executives - VP+Strategy development, strategic thinking, strategic roadmap, and planningKnowledge of data architecture and technology solutionsOur story:Founded in 1962, OMERS is one of Canada’s largest defined benefit pension plans, with $124 billion in net assets as at December 31, 2022.
