Job Description

We are seeking an experienced DB2 Administrator to for a long term contract with our financial client, downtown Toronto. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing DB2 databases on Unix systems, handling large data volumes, and optimizing database performance. This role involves working with ETL processes, performance tuning, and batch automation to ensure seamless operations and data integrity.Term: Contract - 12-24 monthsRate: $70/hrLocation: Downtown TorontoEnvironment: Hybrid, 2 days onsiteMust be legally able to work in Canada Key Responsibilities:

  • DB2 Administration: Install, configure, monitor, and maintain DB2 databases on Unix environments.
  • Performance Tuning: Optimize database performance, troubleshoot slow-running queries, and implement improvements to enhance efficiency.
  • ETL Operations: Manage and process large datasets through ETL tools and pipelines. Design, develop, and support ETL workflows for data migration and integration.
  • Batch Automation: Develop, maintain, and optimize batch jobs using AutoSys to ensure smooth scheduling and execution of tasks.
  • Data Integrityamp; Security: Ensure data is securely stored, backed up, and recovered as needed. Implement best practices for database security and access control.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, processes, and troubleshooting steps.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Proven experience as a DB2 Administrator on Unix platforms.
  • Expertise in handling and processing large datasets using ETL tools and techniques.
  • Strong skills in database performance tuning and query optimization.
  • Hands-on experience with AutoSys for batch automation.
  • Solid understanding of Unix shell scripting for database maintenance and automation tasks.
  • Familiarity with database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical teams.
