Job Description

As a development tester at Alpha Channel Inc., youll help ensure the quality of our game and smooth development by finding and tracking bugs, validating fixes, tracking down tricky problems and providing feedback on the overall user experience. Youll need to approach the game with a fresh perspective each time, to play in creative ways and to work closely with the development team to understand our features, game design and world inside and outResponsibilities Include:

  • Play the game every day to find and log bugs, or to validate that previous fixes were successful
  • Enter detailed bugs including screenshots and/or video where appropriate. Take the time to track down reliable repro steps, frequency and conditions
  • Work hand-in-hand with the development team to track down underlying problems and test out possible fixes
  • Provide regular feedback on accessibility and user experience problems, and include any supporting elements that might help illustrate the problem, such as mock-ups or video
  • Compile clear build or release notes and document known issues when we need to share builds externally
  • Research and understand external requirements such as platform compliance, legal or accessibility
  • Attend all design meetings and develop an expertise and understanding of the full game vision, features and world
Qualifications:
  • Passionate and skilled gamer interested in game development
  • Understanding of 3D game development processes, roles and responsibilities
  • Excellent organization skills and experience with a wide variety of software applications
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills
Nice to Have:
  • Prior experience as a game tester on at least one shipped game
  • Experience working with bug and task tracking software
  • Post-secondary education in a game development related field
  • Knowledge of Unreal Engine 4 or 5
  • Experience or interest in other areas of production, for instance game or level design, creative writing or programming
  • JIRA Experience
