We partner closely with groups and individuals throughout Sun Life Financial to provide products and services that deliver business value.As a leader on the Digital DevOps team, you will manage a team of 5-10 highly skilled and collaborative Engineers across multiple geographies and help drive forward DevOps practices. This position will report to the DevOps Engineering Director on the Digital Solutions team.What you will doSupport delivery of DevOps Automation and Practices (Agile method); assess current state system functionality and leverage level of expertise when developing system enhancements or replacement options.Plan and engage project resources (internal & external) as needed throughout the life of the project; work in partnership with cross functional stakeholders to obtain the necessary skill sets and resourcesOverall accountability of DevOps with the Digital DevOps program, build and maintain DevOps team/structureEnsure support structure is in place to meet Service Levels for non-prod and Production deploymentsBuild and sustain an effective testing strategy and plan and validation process for new initiatives and projects with focus on automation.Partner with Development, Testing, and Production teams to enhance current practices to implement automated processes, high quality design / code, and automated code deploymentsCreate and maintain technical implementation / deployment plan for defined projects, including leading change management and training activities to ensure success in transferring new processes/technology to the business and storesProactively identify, solution and manage project issues, project risks, action plans, and production incidentsRegularly interact with and present to Senior Management (AVPs, VPs, SVPs), and cross-functional managersConsulting with DevOps team on various technical designs, and be able to provide technical guidance on design optionsEncourage a working environment that stimulates open communication, creativity and calculated risk taking that is consistent with Sun Life culture and client for life valuesEnsure applicable metrics are defined and measured for tests and projects where appropriateKeep updated on the state of DevOps, and implement best practices within Digital SolutionsWho you are:We are looking for individuals who are:Creative and courageous, with the ability to manage in an environment of change and ambiguity to help us take bold, strategic moves in this rapidly evolving IT environmentAction oriented, and comfortable taking calculated risks to better serve our clients and businessOutcome focused, critical thinkers with the ability to analyze and visualize, to ensure continuous improvement across our entire businessCollaborative team players with superior influencing skills, who build relationships easily across various stakeholder groups to move initiatives forwardInclusive leaders who build and develop teams that effectively anticipate and respond to disruption, while consistently delivering strong performanceAbility to work in a fast-paced Agile environment and is transparent and professional in their communicationIf you’re curious, ready to take on new challenges and open to doing things differently to help us evolve rapidly, then this is definitely the place to be.What you need to succeedA Post-secondary degree or diploma in Information Technology5+ years of experience providing direct and/or indirect leadership to technical teamsWithin this role you are a recognized and practiced leader with the experience to drive our Digital DevOps practice and development forward3+ years of experience Java development and design experienceStrong leadership skills - comfortable managing large cross functional technical teams, resources and project issues in multiple locationsSoftware design knowledge and practice within the Digital Web domain.
