Job Description

ATTENTION DIGITAL PROFESSIONALS!The Communications Department at the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner is seeking a talented, client-focused, graphic and web professional to develop and implement graphic design and new media strategies for a range of digital and new media initiatives.What can I expect to do in this roleYou can expect to provide specialized and creative web and design expertise and advice to the communications department and IPC staff.You will be responsible for the development, production, and implementation of digital and graphic design outreach strategies, plans and products.The IPCs Team Lead, Digital Communications, will rely on your support for the development and delivery of graphic and editorial design products and multimedia content (photo/video).You will ensure all IPC graphic design and web content are fully compliant with accessibility standards.How do I qualifyTechnical Knowledge:You have knowledge of graphic and editorial design techniques to create, modify, and implement graphic and visual elements into a variety of media (e.g., print, web, email products).You have knowledge of digital design formats and best practices when designing for social media, including animation and video.You have knowledge of HTML and CSS and can create themes, child themes, and make modifications to a website.You have knowledge of legislation, directives, and policies related to communications to ensure compliance in the development and management of web systems, graphics, and related content.Technology Proficiency:

  • You have experience with creative design software programs to develop materials for websites, presentations and promotional initiatives (e.g. Adobe Dreamweaver, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects, Canva)
  • You have experience with WordPress, HTML, and CSS can choose themes, create child themes, and make modifications to a site.
  • You have experience implementing web and new media accessibility requirements related to visual, motor control, auditory, and learning.
  • You have experience posting to social media platforms (e.g., Twitter, LinkedIn).
Analytical Skills:
  • You can use your political acuity to determine strategies for creative services to meet the IPCs digital content and graphic needs.
  • You have experience reporting on useful feedback on initiative success and site usability.
  • You have experience with social media analytics and can provide useful feedback on messaging take-up.
Stakeholder Management, Consultation, and Communications Skills:
  • You have experience providing client satisfaction related to graphics and web-related projects you manage.
  • You can successfully and agreeably resolve conflict and disagreements.
  • You are an effective and persuasive communicator who can advise and inform with tact.
  • You have experience with web writing and editing best practices to prepare engaging content.
  • You can proofread, evaluate and review communications and web products for clarity, effectiveness and consistency with IPC messaging, policies, web guidelines, and standards.
