This team manages market data supplier relationships and has accountability for providing data (and information systems) for firm-wide consumers while managing the associated costs through invoicing and license administration.As a key member of a dynamic, fast paced team, you bring business acumen, a strong work ethic and a collaborative style.You are recognized as an astute business advisor and a thoughtful partner who not only understands data solutions available in today’s marketplace but also the needs of our demanding user community.Leadership and relationshipsRecruits, manages, and develops a team of market data professionals aligned with overall goals of the Group and CPP InvestmentsCultivates and maintains strong relationships with key stakeholders throughout the organization, including executivesSkillfully influences business partners, coaches peers and develops systems/processes for departmental and business partner use that support sustained changeTakes on an ownership mentality around the functionSupplier, contract, and cost managementAccountable for managing and nurturing supplier relationships, including ongoing governance and performance management.Accountable for evaluation and negotiation of large (and often complex) contracts on behalf of multiple business units, ensuring optimal value-for-money.Accountable for end-to-end contact management process, including working with legal, enterprise procurement, compliance, and other stakeholders to ensure contracts are managed to CPP Investments’ policies and standards.Proactively identifies cost savings opportunities through contract reviews, product substitution and firm-wide consolidation efforts. Provides leadership in cost avoidance through superior negotiation skills.Assesses risks and market conditions within the supply chain to avoid negative impact and mitigate issues. Anticipates external changes (supplier commercial policy or regulatory) to minimize cost impact and/or ensure compliance with policies.Leverages industry relationships to understand best practices and/or common commercial challenges.Product portfolio management Continually develops a strong understanding of market data products, services, procedures, and processes in order to identify future solutions and/or areas of improvementDelivers valuable strategic insight to business partners based on depth and breadth of domain knowledgeWorks closely with technology partners to develop understanding of data distribution technology and participates (where applicable) in identification and selection of solutionsDevelops business unit profiles to map supplier offerings to potential consumer needsThrough a data-centric lens, working with Business Partners and data consumers within the firm to support the various investment strategies and data consumer prioritiesWithin a business-centric data consumer engagement model, developing and maintaining data usage profiles to help inform business data strategiesProactively sourcing, evaluating and on-boarding data with existing and new providersDeveloping and maintaining deep relationships with data providersStrong and concise communication experience with investment teams, product teams, data engineering teamsProduct Management or Account Management experience would be considered an assetExceptional listening skills in translating open-ended data requests into actionable data searches that yield data products that will meet the needs of business teamsExperience interpreting and working with data catalogs, data dictionaries and sample data files to determine value, accuracy, and relevanceExisting relationship with data providersNatural explorer with excellent communication and proven negotiation skillsEagerness to execute with strong work ethic and a sense of urgencyExperience in Python an assetCFA/CAIA designation is nice to haveDemonstrated ability to work in a team environmentProven ability to identify datasets that create value in the investment processVisit our LinkedIn Career Page or Follow us on LinkedIn. #LI-KE1#LI-HybridAt CPP Investments, we are committed to diversity and equitable access to employment opportunities based on ability.We thank all applicants for their interest but will only contact candidates selected to advance in the hiring process.
