  • drive institutional vehicles, staff and offenders in a safe and secure manner
  • provide pick-up and delivery services for mail, supplies, office equipment and furniture, mechanical parts, laboratory specimens, and ensuring the safety of sensitive and perishable materials and goods
  • ensure vehicle inspections and routine maintenance are regularly performed for safe and proper operation
  • maintain vehicle records and electronic vehicle logs
  • complete required paperwork for each laundry pick-up and delivery
How do I qualifyMandatory Requirement:
  • you possess a Valid Ontario Class G Drivers License
Technical Knowledge:
  • you have knowledge of vehicle operating requirements and driving techniques and working knowledge of Ontario traffic laws and standard vehicle safety check procedures
  • you have knowledge traffic laws of Ontario and standard vehicle safety checks such as circle inspection of such items as tires, lights, to ensure the safe operation of vehicles
  • you have knowledge of vehicle radio equipment and operations to maintain contact with the facility
  • you have knowledge of related legislation, policies and procedures (i.e. Institution standing orders, Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS), Occupational Health and Safety Act, Ministry of Correctional Services Act, Human Rights Code)
Communication, Analytical and Reasoning Skills:
  • you have good communication skills to convey facts and information regarding pick-ups and deliveries
  • you are able to complete reports and logs and identify repair needs
  • you demonstrate tact and courtesy when dealing with others
  • you have knowledge and experience in using various software programs (i.e. MS Word, Excel, and Outlook )
  • you can determine route adjustments due to traffic, weather or road conditions
