JVS Toronto also offers permanent employees a generous vacation package, a pension plan in addition to paid sick time, family care and wellness days.Program Overview The JVS Employment Source offices, funded by MLITSD, provides a range of employment services (information and referral, one-on-one employment counselling, employment workshops, job development/placement services) to unemployed individuals of all ages, professional backgrounds and skills to help them gain employment within their field or a related field. We’re looking for someone who will: •Provide individual employment counselling and program referrals, including the ability to complete common assessments •Assess client needs and develop service plans that support each clients employment and retention goals •Demonstrate outcome-focused case management ability; applying knowledge of current local labour market trends and community services in Toronto and York Region •Maintain complete client case files in compliance with the new Employment Ontario model requirements; monitor clients’ progress with ongoing follow-up •Interview and assess clients for a variety of employment backgrounds, including ensuring clients have an appropriate resume, interview adeptness, job search skills, etc. discuss and administer Better Jobs Ontario applications involving a review of eligibility, financial feasibly, etc.•Collaborate with community partners and cultural specific organizations to provide high volume service in Farsi in the community •Assist trainees/clients in securing and maintaining employment, including advocating for client’s successful placement and job retention Flexible hours / evenings / weekends may be required for this position. Minimum Qualificationsamp; Experience: •Bachelor’s degree (International degrees must be evaluated for Canadian equivalency) •Post Graduate Certificate in Counselling or Social Services with placement experience, or a related degree with 3-5 years of counselling experience. •1-2 years of employment counselling experience •Effective verbal and written communication skills •Fluent in Farsi•Strong problem-solving skills •Effective organization and time management skills •Strong interpersonal skills; the ability to work with a wide range of personality types; sensitivity to diversity •Computer literate; the ability to learn systems used by the agency (i.e. MS Teams, Outlookamp; CaseFlo) •Must have a vehicle in order to travel to itinerant locations in York Region Our ideal candidate will also have: •Employment Ontario knowledge and exposure •Familiarity with common assessment •Certification from a Careeramp; Work Counsellor program •Fluent in Farsi and/or Hindi •Police background check Qualified applicants are invited to submit their resumeamp; covering letter here.
