Completion of Meadow restoration activities includes site preparation, seeding, monitoring, as well as invasive species management throughout the jurisdiction. Candidates will assist crew leads and actively participate in the safe operation and maintenance of a range of tools and equipment including tractors and backpack sprayers. Occupational health and safety is a major responsibility of this position.Major Responsibilities:Perform the following tasks under general supervision:

• Assist Crew Leads with the implementation of meadow restoration and invasive species management within The Meadoway and throughout the TRCA jurisdiction.
• Assist with operation and maintenance of equipment, including tractors, backpack sprayers, zero turn mowers, trucks, implements and power hand tools.
• Assist with invasive management following best management practices including herbicide application.
• Perform daily vehicle and equipment inspections to ensure safe operation.
• Other duties as assigned.

All activities are expected to be performed in a safe manner, in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its Regulations, along with Corporate Safety policies, procedures and programs. In addition, all necessary personal protective equipment must be used and maintained in good condition.What will you need to succeed:

• Post-secondary education in biology, environmental science, resource management or a related field and pursuing a career in environmental or related field.
• Demonstrated knowledge of native and invasive plants and proficient plant identification skills.
• Demonstrated ability and aptitude to work outdoor in adverse conditions.
• Good physical fitness required for carrying equipment for extended durations.
• Valid Ontario G driver’s license. Class A (R) license / trailer experience an asset.
• Comfortable working with and applying herbicide.
• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a team.
• Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public.
