Job Description

College Montrose Children’s Place POSITION TITLE: Food Bank Assistant CoordinatorSUPERVISED BY: Gooch Lead Family Support WorkerPROVIDES SUPERVISION TO: VolunteersHOURS: 5.5 hours per weekPOSITION SUMMARY The Foodbank Assistant Coordinator will report to the Lead Family Support Worker at the Gooch Family Resource Program. They will work collaboratively with the staff team, volunteers and community partners and clients of the Coopermills-Gooch CommunityFoodbank.The Foodbank Program Worker will oversee the distribution of food to clientele, while supporting other staff and volunteers. This position is will help ensure the foodbank operates efficiently in a calm, inclusive, welcoming environment.PROGRAM/OUTREACH RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the distribution of food to participants in the community:
  • Supporting volunteers in their tasks across all areas of the foodbank, and stepping in to support as needed.
  • Helping to supervise clean-up and to ensure the maintenance of a clean, organized environment following all of CMCP’s health and safety protocols and safe food handling requirements
  • Ensure that clients are registered and support entry of information into database as needed.
  • Enter visits and appointments in the Daily Bread Link2Feed database, and support volunteers doing the same
  • Help manage line ups and help support the smooth and efficient distribution while maintaining a calm and welcoming environment for clients, both new and existing
STAFF TEAM DEVELOPMENT
  • Support students and volunteers as requested.
  • Discuss and resolve any problems/issues with staff team.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings as required.

  • Maintain a daily log of activities and observations.
  • Record data as required.
  • To perform other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Should have good communication skills and sensitivity with working with people who have diverse needs and from diverse backgrounds
  • Good computer skills and ability to learn the Link2Feed intake and data collection system
  • Skilled in searching community resources and linking people to programs and services in their area
  • Ability to speak a second language is an asset, Spanish or Ukrainian in particular
  • Able to lift heavy objects and perform some physical tasks
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Safe Food Handlers certification, or willingness to acquire
  • Excellent oral communication and writing skills
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends;
  • Experience in community outreach work
