Job Description

Job Title: Head ChefLocation: Italian Restaurant, Toronto, ONJob Type: Full-TimeHours: 8:00 AM - 9:00 PMSalary: $18 - $24 CAD per hour (based on experience) We are seeking a passionate and skilled Head Chef to join our team at a popular Italian restaurant in Toronto. As the Head Chef, you will lead the kitchen, ensuring that every dish meets our high standards of quality, consistency, and flavor. You will have the opportunity to create exceptional Italian cuisine in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. This role is perfect for someone with at least 1-2 years of culinary experience who thrives in a leadership position and enjoys working with fresh, authentic ingredients. Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation.
  • Lead, train, and supervise kitchen staff to ensure efficient workflow and a positive working environment.
  • Ensure all menu items are prepared to high-quality standards and served promptly.
  • Maintain inventory of food and supplies, placing orders as needed while minimizing waste.
  • Monitor food safety standards, including proper storage, sanitation, and handling procedures.
  • Collaborate with the management team to develop and update menu items, ensuring seasonality and authenticity in our Italian offerings.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in all kitchen areas.
  • Manage kitchen costs and budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any kitchen issues or equipment malfunctions.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, ensuring proper cleanliness at all times.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience as a chef, preferably in Italian or Mediterranean cuisine.
  • Proven experience in managing kitchen staff and kitchen operations.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
  • In-depth knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards.
  • Creative mindset with a passion for Italian cuisine.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.
