Job Description

As part of the Health Records team, the Health Information Management Technician enables quality patient care by efficiently and accurately processing health records. Responsibilities include, filing, pulling charts for clinic, prepping, scanning and indexing of health records including auditing for completion and quality in accordance with PHIPA and Unity Health Toronto policies.Qualifications Include:

  • Graduate of a recognized Health Information Management (HIM) Program, required
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology, required.
  • Computer skills in MS Office, Email, Internet, required.
  • Accurate keyboarding of 40 w.p.m. required.
  • Canadian Health Information Management (CHIM) Certification, preferred.
  • 2-3 years of recent Health Records experience, preferred.
  • Experience scanning and navigating through Health Information Management applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment and co-ordinate high volume work assignments in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrated competence with numerically based functions.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills; must be able to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication and literacy skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills and telephone manner.
  • Excellent analytical, attention to detail and problem solving skills.
  • Satisfactory attendance record.
