Under the direction of the Assistant Director, Community Health Promotion, the Health Promotion & Community Liaison is responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating health promotion programming to improve student health and well-being. They function as a member of the Health Promotion Programs team and work collaboratively to support the team’s current projects and programs.This role supports student engagement and co-creation initiatives, including creating action plans and tracking documents, planning and conducting consultations, chairing meetings, and other aspects of this work. It also provides theming and data analysis support for student engagement and consultation, and drafts and edits briefs and reports summarizing this work.The Health Promotion & Community Liaison works with the team to plan, develop and deliver interactive workshops and other learning opportunities to student and staff/faculty groups. They assess the impact of these sessions as well as other health promotion, peer health education and outreach programs through the development and implementation of assessment tools, satisfaction surveys, and program utilization analysis.The role is involved in recruiting, training, coaching and supervising the members of the HealthyU Crew (a peer health education team), with support from teammates including the Health Promotion Program Assistant. The HealthyU Crew is a team of dedicated students who work closely with health promotion staff to develop and deliver a variety of health promotion and outreach initiatives to the undergraduate and graduate student community.Collaboration, partnership and liaison are also a component of this role, including: collaborating with campus partners and community agencies in the delivery of public health and health promotion activities; maintaining relationships with campus stakeholder groups to identify opportunities to expand or enhance health education activities; and communicating about and promoting the programming and opportunities related to the Health Promotion Programs team’s work.The Health Promotion and Community Liaison works closely with other roles within the Health Promotion Programsteam, including the Health Promotion Program Assistant and the Health Communications & Knowledge Translation Coordinator. Together, they contribute to the team’s strategic planning and priority setting. This role also functions as a member of the wider Health & Wellness team, participating and supporting the centre’s overall direction and objectives.Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and implementing components of curricularand/or co-curricular programs and activities
  • Developing learning outcomes for workshops and/or services
  • Facilitating educational workshops and seminars
  • Assigning and checking the work of work-study students
  • Planning and overseeing the implementation of an evaluation framework for programs and initiatives
  • Developing strategies that maximize outreach to students
  • Fostering cooperative working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts
  • Providing basic support and general referrals to individuals in distress
Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree in a health-related discipline or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience. Masters Degree in Public Health (Health Promotion Specialty) or an equivalent and relevant course of study preferred.
  • Minimum four years experience in the conceptualization, development, delivery and evaluation of health promotion programming in a university setting.
  • Expertise and experience in applying health promotion principles, practices and frameworks to the development of programs and services.
  • Experience conducting scans, literature reviews, performing basic data analysis and theming, and writing reports or other summaries of projects and work.
  • Experience in youth or student engagement and/or supporting peer-led initiatives.
  • Experience in group facilitation with young adults with demonstrated ability to navigate sensitive issues facing youth/students.
  • Experience in creating learning outcomes, content, and evaluation tools for workshops, trainings, and other educational sessions.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering/facilitating workshops and other learning and educational sessions with diverse audiences.
  • Experience in planning and coordinating small and large scale events for a student population.
  • Specific experience in working with a diverse student population is required.
  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, internet, and email.
  • Excellent organizational as well as oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven leadership, teamwork and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team composed of multi-disciplinary individuals with varying responsibilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.
