Human Resource Services provides strategic advice to a full range of client groups to ensure that UTSC can recruit, mentor and retain the highly skilled and committed staff needed to meet our aspirations.Your Opportunity:Under the general direction of the Manager, Human Resource Services UTSC, the HR Administrator works independently to provide a range of administrative and support services to the UTSC Human Resource Services office and to provide general human resources information to managers, employees and members of the public.Key responsibilities include: provides administrative support to the Executive Director and Manager to ensure that their activities are managed in a proactive, professional and knowledgeable manner; provides administrative support to the HR office to implement and maintain office administrative systems and tracking mechanisms; provides administrative support to the HR Advisor and Staff Development Coordinator regarding training and development administration, promotion and logistical support for training and quarterly orientation offerings at UTSC; provides administrative and research support to special HR related projects assigned by the Manager and/or Executive Director; acts as a point of contact in respect to a broad range of HR matters requiring the provision of information to managers and staff regarding employment policies, legislation and collective agreement provisions, process, protocol and best practice while refers complex matters appropriately and; provides administrative support to academic HR processes, data collection, reporting and advice pertaining to immigration legislation and process.Qualifications Required:Education:University degree, completion of or working towards a Human Resources Management Certificate, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Experience:Minimum of three years’ related human resources administration experience in a unionized environment. Experience providing human resources administrative services to a large, diverse workforce is an asset. Knowledge of recruitment processes and principles; equity and diversity principles; benefits administration; collective agreement interpretation and grievance process. Experience building data tracking systems, filing systems and office organizational systems. Experience generating reports from HRIS and spreadsheets. Experience working in a confidential setting. Experience in a customer service setting dealing effectively with a diverse group of clients in difficult or sensitive situations. Experience organizing and planning presentations an asset.Skills:Knowledge of HR best practices and a strong understanding of employment legislation and collective agreement administration. Knowledge of training and development, orientation/on-boarding, payroll, pension, benefits, tax and records management policies, procedures, applications and related legislation. Website design and maintenance, Keyboarding skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Visio. Experience with online recruitment tools, social media; experience using HRIS, Learning Management and Success Factors or similar systems.Other:Must have: demonstrated organizational and interpersonal skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills; demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Must exercise good judgment and constantly exhibit tact and diplomacy, be attentive to detail, ability to manage a fluctuating workload under pressure and to meet deadlines and the ability to work both independently and effectively as part of a team.
