HR Data Analyst

DescriptionJob SummaryThe Human Resource (HR) Analyst will collect, compile, and analyze HR data, metrics, and statistics, and apply this data to make recommendations related to recruitment, retention, and legal compliance.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Collects and compiles HR metrics and data from a variety of sources and payroll outputs, management and employee surveys, exit interviews, employment records, government labour statistics, competitors’ practices, and other sources;
  • Analyzes data and statistics for trends and patterns with attention to recruitment, hiring practices, motivation, turnover, and compliance with employment laws and regulations;
  • Prepares reports of data results, presenting and explaining findings to senior leadership;
  • Identifies and recommends reasonable short- and long-term goals, milestones, and benchmarks for key performance metrics;
  • Based on metrics and analysis, makes recommendations for policies and activities to improve the organizational culture including suggestions to attract and hire qualified candidates, to motivate and retain employees, to address staffing issues, and to maintain legal compliance;
  • Facilitates implementation of new training, development, recruiting, and other related initiatives.
  • Audits the HR/Payroll system to ensure data integrity and accuracy as well as overseeing data management, reporting and table updates;
  • Ensures compliance with data privacy regulations and best practices;
  • Create a project plan for the migration process, including mapping risks and potential impacts for the upcoming HRIS implementation;
  • May guide and/or assist with performance, benefit, and compensation review and evaluation processes; and
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software;
  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn HRIS and similar employee management software;
  • Familiarity with Applicant Tracking Systems and Human Resources/Payroll software; and
  • Ability to take quick decisions while working in a fast-paced environment
Skill in
  • Excellent analytic, problem solving and coaching skills, with the ability to take a thoughtful data driven approach to addressing challenge;
  • Scoping requirements for future learning needs;
  • Communicating effectively and tactfully with all levels of management;
  • Developing effective relationships with business partners and human resources partners;
  • Preparing and delivering written and verbal presentations and proposals;
  • Power BI or other analytic tools; and
  • Project Management.

  • Deal with ambiguity and create process and structure where it does not currently exist;
  • Manage medium to large projects independently while balancing daily required tasks;

  • Work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment; and
  • Communicate proficiently in French is an asset.
Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field of study with a minimum of five (5) years experience in a similar role.
