Since it opened in 1919, Hart House functions as a place where students, faculty, staff, alumni and members of the broader community connect with each other and the world. Through an array of co-curricular programming in the arts, dialogue and wellness, Hart House works with local and international partners to foster community and to create innovative learning opportunities for students. Hart House operates from a historic facility on the St. George campus, as well as a 150-acre farm in Caledon, Ontario, offering a wide range of services through a social enterprise model that generates revenue to support its student-focused programming on all three University of Toronto campuses.Warden’s Office, Strategic InitiativesThe Warden’s Office drives the strategic direction of Hart House, ensuring responsible and responsive governance, creating and maintaining partnerships and collaborations, overseeing all of the business and program activities of the House, and representing Hart House to the broader University of Toronto community and beyond. We work within the Hart House Strategic Plan to drive activity around 5 core commitments:1. Foster a climate of inclusivity and belonging in our spaces and programs2. Encourage students to explore who they are and who they aspire to be through the arts, dialogue and wellness3. Offer students rich experiential learning opportunities4, Deepen student engagement with local and global communities and issues5. Steward Hart House resources and relationships carefully and creatively to meet the challenges of today and the opportunities of tomorrow.Within the Warden’s Office, Strategic Initiatives provides critical support to the Hart House Strategic Plan through leadership on implementation strategy, assessment, leading multi-partnered dialogue -based programming, grant development, accessibility and related projects. We collaborate closely with all of the departments within Hart House, and work to foster supportive and mutually beneficial relationships within our organization, the campus community and beyond.Your opportunity:Reporting to the Director, Strategic Initiatives, the incumbent will provide critical contributions to a number of important initiatives geared towards enhancing the experience for Indigenous and non-Indigenous students through Hart House, including, developing opportunities that reflect Indigenous students interests and engagement, and build cultural competency for non-Indigenous students, the reimagining of the Hart House Farm as a space for land-based opportunities, Indigenous knowledge sharing and ceremony, healing, restoration, and community building; projects that look at the colonial infrastructure of the Hart House building on St. George campus; learning and development projects that contribute to building an inclusive culture for staff and students; and more generally, providing Indigenous leadership and perspective through contributions to the Hart House Leadership team. The successful candidate will specifically focus on developing and delivering outreach and engagement activities, developing and executing project planning activities, and community engagement and consultation efforts.Your responsibilities will include:
