Job Description

Primary PurposeToronto School of Management (TSoM) is an innovative college offering a broad range of career-focused programs in Business, Hospitality and Tourism, Big Data, Cybersecurity, and Accounting. Students that study at the Toronto campus will receive a Niagara College credential upon graduation. Primary purpose of positionThe Institutional Research Officer collects, develops, analyzes, and reports data to support program and institutional reviews and audits, assessment and planning, continuous improvement, and to enhance informed and data-driven decision-making. Performs applied research, designs, executes, and evaluates analytical and statistical studies such as surveys. Responsibilities

  • Design, collect, analyze, report on, and present various data about the programs and the College.
  • Support program reviews, institutional audits, and quality improvement activities, by identifying data needs, collecting, and analyzing said data and participating in the development of review/audit reports and improvement planning.
  • Design, coordinate, implement, and analyze student, faculty, staff surveys, and other types of surveys as assigned.
  • Lead the development of survey tools and design of survey protocols and procedures.
  • Coordinate and maintain access to the College information systems such as the Student Information System and Learning Management System and report relevant data from such systems.
  • Develop and maintain longitudinal data sets and studies, in the context of identifying and analyzing patterns for quality improvement and planning and assessment.
  • Coordinate and work with other departments, committees, teams, and staff to coordinate and facilitate work and represent QA and Compliance Department.
  • Formulate and prepare responses to internal and/or external queries and requests for data and statistics.
  • Train and coach relevant users on how to analyze and use data to inform decision making
  • Serve as a steward of the QA and Compliance Department data and information making sure that data is compliant, accessible and understandable across the entire College.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Position RequirementsEducation and Experience
  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in education, computer science, statistics, mathematics, social sciences, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience, 1 of which are directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified above.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Ability to design and conduct large-scale surveys, and proficiency in using survey tools and software.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret quantitative and qualitative data, and proficiency in statistical packages such as SAS, Stata or SPSS.
  • Proficiency in data reporting and visualization tools such as Microsoft Excel and Tableau.
  • Experience and interest in policy development in higher education is a asset.
  • Ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations based on research data and findings.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Ability to work independently and with various departments and personnel, managing and prioritizing multiple projects with the understanding of broader department and college goals and context of these projects.
