The Diocese of Toronto is seeking a part-time (3 days per week) Interim Editor of The Anglican for a 3.5 month contract position while the current incumbent is on leave. This position will be fulfilled through remote work. The Anglican is published under the authority of the Bishop of Toronto and the Incorporated Synod of the Diocese of Toronto and is published both in print and on the Diocesan website. The Anglican shares news from around the Diocese and is an important part of the Communication department’s mandate to inform, equip and inspire our bishops, clergy and lay leaders as they build communities of hope and compassion. The Interim Editor will be responsible for overseeing the publication of the Diocesan newspaper, The Anglican, and the regular production of the other publications from other departments.Skills and Qualifications:The successful candidate for this role will be a calm, positive communication professional, with at least 3 years’ experience with editing an organization’s publication (newsletter, newspaper, etc.), strong writing and editing skills, and understanding of how to lay out a print publication. A good understanding of the Anglican Church is required with preference for knowledge of the Diocese of Toronto, our values and structure.Candidates will need to be able to demonstrate their collaboration skills, excellent customer service, the ability to consistently meet deadlines, work with multiple stakeholders and independently with minimal supervision, and have demonstrable experience promoting the brand and values of an organization.
