Job Description

Job SummaryThe Financial Analyst is responsible for performing a wide range of complex financial and business-related analysis and research for financial and expense performance, rate of return, depreciation, working capital and investment. As the financial analyst in this fast-paced, private Company, you will make an immediate impact by assisting with the company’s FP&A process for Toronto and the end-to-end accounting for US/CA operations daily. You will leverage your knowledge of full-cycle accounting and data management to provide reporting and analysis, while supporting the leadership team on strategic initiatives.Roles & Responsibilities

  • Support Toronto operations with annual operational budgets and rolling quarterly forecasts.
  • Support the preparation of weekly indicators, run allocations, analyze trends in sales, costs, including comparison to forecasted results. Investigates fluctuations and summarize for Management.
  • Analyze present and future financial performance of Business Unit and support the preparation of what if scenarios.
  • Analyze actual performance against forecast and weekly indicators.
  • Provide support to the business through the preparation of daily, weekly and monthly flash reports.
  • Provide Material Margin Analysis and Feedback for the Business Units.
  • Responsible for COGS, inventory valuations, inventory provision, and overhead analysis
  • Prepare weekly cashflow projections and working capital analysis and monitor Net Working Capital for Business Units and Site.
  • Review Capital Expenditure request for ROI and cash payback.
  • Prepare financial reports for internal customers.
  • Assist and participate in the month end closing processes by providing meaningful analysis of significant balance sheet balances, complex transactions, and overall consolidated profitability.
  • Assist in preparation of month-end schedules, reports, and explanation of variances on capital expenditures and depreciation expense, prepare journals, continuity, and other supporting roll forward schedules and general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Proactive validation for monthly: Sales & cost of sales, inventory, and expenses
  • Provide proposal for Accruals (e.g., Revenue) during month end close.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement projects and assess the saving calculations of Operations.
  • Walk production lines to understand the operations and to apply knowledge to financial analysis.
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert for Financial Forecast System and train Operations staff.
  • Coordinate with other departments in preparation of special analysis and reports.
  • Develop processes to help speed up close times or reduce control risk.
Skills Requirements
  • 2 or more years of progressive experience in financial planning and analysis positions
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Demonstrated experience in operations with well-rounded knowledge of internal controls
  • Advanced level of Excel is MUST, including and not limited to IF, SUMIF, VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, Pivot Tables & Macros is desirable.
  • Knowledge of SAP FICO is MUST
  • Good knowledge of GAAP and IFRS to evaluate financial reports.
  • Knowledge of IBM COGNOS Business Intelligence tool is desirable
  • Strong analytical aptitude with excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, priorities and meet the deadlines.
  • Team player who works effectively with limited supervision
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and excellent customer service
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with both internal and external clients
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required
  • Enrolled and pursuing CPA designation path will be an asset.
Job Type: Full-timeSalary: $50,000.00-$80,000.00 per yearSchedule:
  • Monday to Friday
