Job Description

Our values of quality, innovation and relationships enable us to provide exceptional service and lie at the heart of everything we do.Position: Lead BaristaLocation: 50 Wagstaff Dr. Toronto, ON.Starting Pay: $17.00 per hour + tipsWere looking for a full-time Lead Barista to join our team at The Tasting Bar. You must thrive in a service environment that upholds the importance of education when discussing our products with customers. Beyond supporting daily operations at The Tasting Bar, Lead Baristas take an active role in supporting the Coffee Ambassador in developing new drink recipes, parameter guides and assisting in coffee education initiatives across the company both internally and externally. They also must have a solid understanding of Pilots products and practices in order to effectively present and communicate to customers and clients.PRIMARY DUTIES + RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Greet and interact with all customers and guests of the roastery in a professional and friendly manner
  • Complete daily and weekly checklist tasks that are assigned to you
  • Responsible for the opening and closing of the cafes - this includes completing opening and closing checklists, locking up and setting the alarm
  • Prepare beverages while following the steps and quality standards outlined in Pilot’s Barista Certification
  • Sell coffee and retail merchandise by utilizing your knowledge of current coffee offerings and confidently and accurately communicate this to the customer
  • Respond to all questions, orders and concerns in a professional and friendly manner
  • Communicate coffee and dry goods ordering needs with Leadership Team
  • Support the Coffee Ambassador with various innovation initiatives such as: drink development, creating and updating parameter guides, etc.
  • Have an understanding of and commitment to the mission and values of Pilot Coffee Roasters
  • Carry out all other reasonable duties assigned by the company
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience as a professional Barista in the specialty coffee industry is required
  • Previous work experience in a customer service environment is required
  • An in-depth understanding of Pilot’s product offering is required
  • A solid understanding of trends in the specialty coffee industry if preferred
