Job Description

Lead Lighting ArtistWould you like to work on some of the greatest franchises in gaming history What about working on our new original IP Certain Affinity is the largest independent developer in Texas, based out of Austin, and we have a growing presence in Toronto, Canada. We #39;re best known for co-developing numerous AAA FPS games, though now we are creating compelling new games of our own. We #39;re always on the lookout for amazing talent to join our team.As a Lead Lighting Artist at Certain Affinity, you’ll be instrumental in guiding the vision for one of our co-development projects. You’ll put your skill, talent, and experience to use supporting the mood, gameplay, and artistic vision on a high-profile AAA game by collaborating with other leaders across disciplines.Responsibilities

  • Work with the art director, partner, and design team to bring color and life to a highly immersive world
  • Lead and mentor a team of lighting artists and drive the visual style/quality bar for lighting across our projects.
  • Communicate plans and goals for lighting visually to coordinate with stakeholders across the project
  • Use your knowledge of advancing technology and tools to continually improve lighting pipelines and improve team efficiency
  • Scope out deliverables, schedule, and manage expectations for the lighting team
  • Proactively create content that is performant and leaves overhead for other stakeholders
  • Use your skills with atmospheric effects, practical sources, time of day, color, and cinematography to support the needs of the project
Requirements
  • 4+ years of lighting experience in the game industry
  • 2+ years of leadership experience
  • Shipped 2+ AAA titles as a lighting artist
  • Solid proficiency in Unreal, especially with Lumen
  • Deep understanding of PBR, lighting systems, and rendering technology
  • Excellent understanding of lighting pipelines and workflows as they relate to game development
  • Must be able to initiate visual direction without a specific concept or design
  • Displays a high level of mentorship abilities and is willing to support and train other members on the team
  • A desire to work in and support a diverse and inclusive environment
