The successful candidate will have an academic position description of Clinician Teacher and must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Lecturer, Assistant, Associate or Full Professor at the University of Toronto. Effective start date is November 1, 2022, or shortly thereafter.The Division of Youth Psychiatry at Sunnybrook is the largest Youth-specific psychiatric program in the country, with 11 full- and part-time psychiatrists; its outpatient program serves approximately 1000 patients per year. Other youth-specific services in the Department include a Schedule 1 inpatient program with eight Youth beds (ages 14-18) and a Day Treatment Program (“Fresh Start”) affiliated with the Toronto District School Board; eligible patients in the Division have access to expertise from other departmental programs, including the Harquail Centre for Neuromodulation, the Thompson Centre for Anxiety Disorders, and the Family Navigation Project.The successful applicant must hold an MD degree and be certified (or eligible for certification) by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. The position requires an individual who has a track record of excellence in teaching given the frequent presence of learners within the Department. Advanced training in urgent care, inpatient psychiatry, mood and anxiety disorders, and/or trauma would be an asset.The successful candidate will cover 3-4 inpatient beds for youth ages 14–18-years-old and will also join the ambulatory (outpatient) program in the Division of Youth Psychiatry, working with youth ages 14-24 with complex mood and anxiety disorders, and will take a lead role in the Youth Division’s Urgent Assessment Clinic, providing urgent subspecialty consultations to the Sunnybrook Emergency Department. The successful candidate will be expected to participate fully in the clinical and academic interprofessional activities of the Department of Psychiatry, including the psychiatry call system and teaching program.Compensation will be based on a fee-for-service structure with additional funding through Academic and Educational Trust Funds and/or Departmentally sanctioned administrative roles.Applications will be accepted until October 14, 2022, or until the position is filled.
