Job Description

Job DescriptionMaintain a High Level of Safety and 5S

  • Work with team members to ensure safety programs are in place and in compliance
  • Manage employee training programs
  • Ensure accident/incident investigations are carried out in a timely manner and documented to determine root causes, corrective actions and following-up to ensure completion
  • Promote proactive identification and elimination of workplace hazards
  • Regularly audit the workplace and storage areas to ensure compliance with policies and procedures and insure inspections are appropriately documented
Manage Maintenance and Facilities Personnel
  • Ensure that all team members are treated in an equal and fair manner, abiding by the company Policiesamp; Standards of Conduct
  • Ensure the Department is adequately staffed with sufficient cross-training and back-up support to meet business requirements optimizing productivity
  • Manage vacation and absence schedules
  • Administer the Performance Evaluation process including setting objectives and expectations, rating performance, doing Performance Reviews and submitting wage increase recommendations.
  • Manage the Performance Improvement Program
  • Ensure Supervisors are administering the processes for their people
  • Ensure all Team Members have up to date Job Descriptions
  • Create, update and maintain appropriate documented processes and procedures, ensure all Team Members are adequately trained and conduct routine audits to verify compliance
  • Lead, coach and mentor staff to develop their skills and abilities
Manage TRC owned Facilities
  • Run and maintain all company owned facilities to meet or exceed local, provincial and federal requirements.
  • Maintain and administrate all facility fire protection services and security systems ensuring compliance with all fire codes, ministry codes and company requirements.
  • Co-ordinate and lead third party insurance audits and appropriately respond to audit recommendations.
  • Maintain office and common areas to meet the organization’s requirements.
  • Ensure all building services such as power, lighting, HVAC, water, drainage, waste removal, and janitorial services adequately meet the needs of the organization and are maintained to be stable and reliable.
  • Plan, negotiate, evaluate, award and manage contract for maintenance and repair services.
  • Identify, implement and manage energy and cost reduction initiatives.
Manage production equipment maintenance
  • Understand production needs and ensure they are adequately equipped to efficiently and effectively manufacture products.
  • Establish and manage a Total Productive Maintenance program and Work Order system ensuring production equipment is properly maintained to improve operational effectiveness and asset utilization.
  • Manage and direct 3rd party contractors hired to provide maintenance and support services
Ensure Achievement of Performance Targets and Report Performance
  • Establish daily, monthly and annual safety, quality, delivery and cost performance goals for equipment and maintenance performance aligned to Operations objectives
  • Establish Key Performance Indicators, monitor and report performance on Dashboards and A-3’s identifying specific issues and gap closure plans
  • Attend Tier 2 meetings with Team Leads to monitor daily performance providing feedback and direction.
  • Ensure routine communication sessions are scheduled and deliver presentations as required.
  • Be aware of any significant equipment, material or information flow issues arising and ensure corrective action plans are initiated and implemented
  • Raise any potential issues that could negatively impact the Maintenance or Facilities performance or any part of the operation to the Director, Projects, Maintenanceamp; Facilities and/or leaders of affected departments.
  • Liaise with relevant team members to ensure mutual expectations are clear and issues are communicated in a timely manner and escalated as required
Establish and Implement Business and CI Plans
  • Establish annual Department Business Plan with Objectives, Key Initiatives and KPI’s
  • Lead Maintenanceamp; Facilities projects and participate in other department or corporate projects as required to support the company business plans
  • Identify improvement opportunities and establish the CI program for the Department
  • Champion a CI culture through the use and deployment of Lean tools and methodologies and develop Change Leadership skills in the Department
  • Sponsor, lead or facilitate specific CI projects and establishment of Standardized Work
  • Sponsor, lead or facilitate Kaizens and participate in operational department kaizens to support their CI initiatives
