Discover how you can make a difference in the lives of individuals, families and communities around the world.Job descriptionThis role is a key contributor in the Corporate Finance team responsible for supporting Sun Life’s statutory and global accounting and regulatory reporting functions as we gear up for the implementation of IFRS 17 and IFRS 9. The incumbent will support the design and implementation of a best-in-class process to centralize and integrate the data collection function across Corporate Finance teams, using existing tools (SAP, Longview, Workiva etc.) and automated workflow capabilities to achieve that outcome. The incumbent will also be required to assist in executing the monthly and quarterly regulatory reporting processes and other related functions as neededThe ideal candidate is a self-motivated, results-driven individual with a passion to lead and drive change to improve operational efficiency.Preferred skills

  • Ability to visualize, organize and manage large volumes of data
  • Collaborative experience with technical, accounting and business teams at all levels, with the ability to communicate with purpose
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and developing reporting solutions and automations
  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA (including Fiori and Analysis for Office) and Aptitude Accounting Hub is an advantage
  • Experience with Oracle general ledger, Tableau, Workiva wDesk and Longview is an advantage
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
  • Accounting designation CPA, CA, CMA or CGA or equivalent
  • 4+ years of relevant experience in either public accounting or large, multinational organizations, preferably in the insurance industry
Responsibilities
  • Support the design, build and implementation of a technology-driven, data collection and integration process, applying the principle of “collect once, use many times” to minimize duplication and satisfy a wide range of users across reporting and analysis functions within Corporate Finance
  • Liaise with key stakeholders across Corporate Finance to understand key reporting deliverables, both internal and external, under IFRS 17 and IFRS 9
  • Partner with technical, accounting and business teams to lead design and execute development and automation of internal and external reports and controls using multiple reporting tools, techniques, and sources of data
  • The ability to project manage and ensure timely execution of deliverables within a fast-paced environment
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements and regulatory returns under IFRS 17 & 9 using SAP S/4HANA, Longview, Workiva, etc.
  • Identify and execute process improvement initiatives in collaboration with cross-team stakeholders to drive operational efficiencies, building upon a culture of continuous improvement
  • Contribute to strategic ad-hoc projects across Corporate Finance, including our adoption of IFRS 17, IFRS 9, and the implementation of new reporting processes and controls
