Job Description

Role impact:This role is responsible for developing and managing industry leading sustainability programs and platforms across CFs portfolio. The primary focus of the role is to ensure the continued success of CF’s current sustainability programs such as Green at Work ® and green building certifications while advancing CF’s focus on wellness and client engagement.The role requires knowledge of industry best practices for sustainability, green building certifications and building operations. This role will engage with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders at all levels, and lead collaboration on specific initiatives. The role requires strong skills in building performance analysis to drive improved performance.What you will deliver:

  • Oversee CF’s national sustainability program that includes sustainability best practices that are iteratively reviewed, and a data management platform. Strong engagement with property teams is needed to ensure continued success of this program.
  • Oversee centralized green building and wellness certifications (i.e. LEED, BOMA BEST, WELL) with collaboration from other subject matter experts and property stakeholders.
  • Manage the sustainability data management platform for the collection, analysis and verification of data including target achievement tracking for energy and water efficiency, waste diversion, emissions reductions, utilities budgets and avoided costs. Coordinate vendor requirements and ongoing enhancements to the platform while evaluating optimization opportunities.
  • Manage systems and processes for reporting to internal and external stakeholders on financial, energy and emissions data to clients, government/regulatory, certification bodies, national and property operations teams
  • Support the development of a wellness strategy and include in sustainability program
  • Liaise with key clients and JV partners to support client and partner experience through opportunities for building sustainability performance improvements, client engagement programs, and data sharing
  • Provide budget guidance for properties related to certifications or Green at Work tactics and support the development of the national energy and water budget.
  • Support operating costs reductions through performance monitoring and reporting.
  • Maximize ROI through pursuit of incentives.
  • Work closely with Climate and Energy team on initiatives such as Zero Carbon certification and carbon offset strategy

  • Ability to create effective presentation material (e.g. PowerPoint)
  • Proficient computer skills including Word, Excel, Power Point, Google Sheets
What you need to succeed:
  • Degree in Engineering, Business, Environmental Management, Architecture or another related field; or equivalent experience
  • 5 years in an energy or environmental sustainability in commercial real estate related position
  • Knowledge of building operations and industry best practices, certifications and standards related to energy, carbon emissions, water, waste, and procurement for commercial office and retail properties
  • Strong skills in building performance data analysis, design of tracking systems, and ability to interpret sustainability KPIs, to drive improved performance.
  • Ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels and lead collaboration on specific initiatives
  • Knowledge of property management, budgeting and financial analysis.
  • Familiarity with project management concepts and best practices
  • Experience with program management
