Find out about our purpose, values and principles here.Position Description:The Department of Medical Physics and the Radiation Medicine Program at the Princess Margaret (PM) Cancer Centre is seeking a promising Medical Physicist to fill a permanent fulltime position. The successful candidate will become part of a team of over 30 Medical Physicists.The successful candidate will participate in clinical activities and will be expected to contribute to innovative research, education activities and clinical development projects.The Department of Medical Physics supports staff professional and academic growth by providing access to research and development opportunities related to topics in a set of focus areas. These include process automation, data science, MR-guided external beam radiotherapy and brachytherapy, dose accumulation and adaptive radiotherapy, radiation dosimetry, proton therapy technology development, functional imaging for treatment response assessment and optical techniques and biophotonics in conjunction with radiation. For this position, we are broadly interested in domain expertise in one or more of the following areas: MR functional imaging in radiation therapy, theranostics, data science & machine learning and particle therapy.The department of Medical Physics is active in education and training of medical physicists through its CAMPEP-accredited residency program at the University of Toronto, Department of Radiation Oncology. The department also maintains a strong relation with University of Toronto’s Department of Medical Biophysics through which it recently established a Ph.D. graduate program that is undergoing CAMPEP accreditation, providing robust access to top-notch graduate students. The successful candidate will be encouraged and supported to secure an academic appointment at the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Toronto and at the Department of Medical Biophysics.The successful candidate holds a PhD degree in Medical Physics or related field, is CCPM certified (or equivalent) and has experience in advanced imaging, treatment planning and delivery technologies. He/she is a motivated self-starter wanting to make a difference, a team player with excellent communication and problem-solving skills, eager to foster and develop his/her leadership skills and keen in participating in or leading clinical development and research. The individual has sustained academic productivity as evidenced by publications, grants, book chapters and committee activity in professional and scientific associations (COMP, AAPM, ASTRO, ESTRO, etc). Post-doctoral research experience is considered an asset.While this search focuses on an individual with at least 5 years of clinical experience post residency, we are also keen to consider applications from more junior, promising and talented individuals. Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.Facility and Equipment:The PM is a world leading cancer centre with state-of-the-art imaging and radiation treatment equipment including three CT-simulators, a CT/PET simulator, a MR simulator, 16 linear accelerators (Elekta and Varian), two Gamma Knife units, a MR-guided radiation therapy unit, and an Elekta Unity MR-Linac; RayStation is the core Treatment Planning System at PM.
