Taskeen WellnessA Mercy Mission Canada ProjectPosition Description: Mental Health Education Outreach CoordinatorAbout Taskeen WellnessTaskeen Wellness is a team of doctors, social workers, and psychologists whose mission is to help communities better access wellness knowledge and mental health care. Our goal is to provide culturally responsive education, mentorship and support to community residents (parents, youth and others) who wish to be trained as Wellness Advocates. To learn more about Taskeen Wellness and the team, please visit www.mercymission.ca/taskeen-wellness.OpportunityTaskeen Wellness is in its early stages of development and is being managed by a board of mental health and social services professionals. The team needs an Outreach Coordinator to assist board members to manage deliverables and execute tasks. The position is ideal for an aspiring mental health or social services student or graduate who wishes to work under the mentorship and guidance of established professionals in the field.Responsibilities

  • Gain a thorough understanding of the team’s goals and aspirations
  • Organize a detailed project plan consisting of tasks, timelines and owners
  • Take ownership of the project’s critical path and communicate strongly with the board and interns to keep the project on track
  • Organize team meetings including setting up zoom calls, preparing agendas, taking meeting notes and distributing meeting minutes
  • Adapt mental health curriculum to specific audiences such as youth, parents and mosques
  • Develop new training modules using PowerPoint
  • Deliver mental health education to advocates
  • Organize in-person events and workshops
  • Write mental health content to be delivered via website and newsletters
  • Conduct literature survey on mental health topics
  • Writing grants
  • Compile a database of mental health resources (websites and people) in target geographies
  • Develop program to enlist youth into our wellness advocate program
Positions AvailableThree positions are available over the following durations. There is some flexibility on start dates.Position 1: May 9, 2022 - July 4, 2022 – 8 weeks at 35 hours/weekPosition 2: June 6, 2022 - July 29, 2022 – 8 weeks at 35 hours/weekPosition 3: July 4, 2022 - August 26, 2022 – 8 weeks at 35 hours/weekCompensationThese positions are funded by the Canada Summer Jobs program and will pay $15 / hour.LocationWork will be primarily remote. You must have a laptop and good internet connection. Some work may be onsite in Torontos Thorncliffe Park and Flemingdon Park neighborhoods.Required Experience/Aptitude
  • Proven experience taking responsibility for community projects and setting up events
  • Very dependable and punctual
  • Excellent communicator
  • Confident relationship builder
  • Able to handle multiple projects and tasks
  • Work independently and show initiative
  • A proven track record of taking ownership and responsibility
  • Familiarly and good relationships with stakeholders in Thorncliffe Park or Flemingdon Park neighbourhoods
  • You are an aspiring entrant in the mental health or social work fields
  • To comply with CSJ requirements, you must be between 15 and 30 years of age.
