If you have a passion for excellence, and would like to work for Corus Entertainment, we encourage you to apply.About the roleReporting to the Managing Editor, Living and Trending, you will be responsible for crafting original Living journalism and news for Globalnews.ca that engages our audience.Working in tandem with other reporters and teams across Global News, you will help develop and execute the vision and editorial strategy for Globalnews.ca with the goal of creating compelling, impactful and original content about the Lifestyle world. Stories will involve topics like relationships, sex, fashion, social issues, parenting and food, among others.Together with a team of national online journalists, you will create web, broadcast and multi-platform content including — but not limited to — text, video, and interactive digital journalism. You live and breathe Lifestyle content, and are up-to-date on current related news and social issues.You will contribute original content that will achieve traffic goals and increase user engagement. You’ll also build relationships with a variety of key internal stakeholders, including local and national radio station managers, local and national broadcast news managers, digital product development teams and The Morning Show, among others.The position will be based in Toronto, Ontario.Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Managing Editor, Living and Trending, and senior leadership to meet goals and objectives that will grow traffic of globalnews.ca through Living stories and content production
  • Develop and maintain a network of sources to aid in creating original stories for online
  • Pitch and write original pieces related to the latest Living trends, news and conversations
  • Create and promote innovative new ways to tell stories, using techniques and technologies that can be used across the network (TV, radio, social media, podcasts, etc.)
  • Work closely with Global News digital video, social media and copy-editing teams to ensure the best promotion and dissemination of content
  • Work with other Corus properties, including Slice, HGTV, Food Network and others to help curate the best Living content offering for Globalnews.ca
  • Uphold the high standards of the Global News Journalistic Principles and Practices, as well as journalistic ethics codes and best practices
  • Stay on top of Living stories from around the world — local, national and international
What we need from you:
  • College or university degree, preferably in Journalism
  • At least 5 years experience in online media or equivalent, with a minimum of 3 years of digital or newspaper experience, preferably in the Lifestyle realm
  • Expertise, passion for and understanding of online journalism
  • Excellent writing, copy editing and substantive editing skills
  • Strong working knowledge of WordPress CMS, SEO, CP Style
  • Working knowledge of multimedia tools, including Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop and a familiarity with HTML
  • Diverse content experience across multiple verticals and formats, including digital video, text articles, social media, digital photos, etc.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and demonstrable experience working with several internal and external stakeholders on various projects
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, breaking news digital environment is an asset
  • Enthusiasm and passion for all aspects of Lifestyle news
  • A strong social media presence is an asset
