Job Description

Genecis Bioindustries is a venture-backed startup that uses bacteria to make premium materials affordable. Our first product line creates biodegradable plastics from organic waste. We are seeking a construction assistant to support architectural, mechanical, plumbing, and general assembly work in our pilot facility.Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of 3-4 operations staff. Ensure operations team are working collaboratively to meet company objectives. Set quarterly and annual objectives. Provide regular performance feedback and coaching.
  • Develop and Manage production schedule for all operations activities. This includes operation of pilot and demonstration scale production to meet internal R&D & customer joint development projects to ensure on time product availability.
  • Ensure product quality requirements are clearly defined (quantity, quality, timeline).
  • Work with Program Manager to integrate new production processes or R&D activities into production schedule. Work with Program Manager to establish production priorities when scheduling conflicts occur.
  • Coordinate with project leads to establish detailed material production timelines
  • Develop and maintain production charts showing reactor and resource usage. Develop production sequencing required to deliver PHA product.
  • Ensure QC/QA is carried out for all pilot and demo production processes. Includes coordination with science QC team and external labs as needed. Ensure all production streams are tracked so that end products can be traced back to source feedstock, reactor, and innocula. Ensure that quality data is accurately recorded for all stages of production.
  • Maintain a safe, orderly and clean workplace ensuring compliance with all safety policies and 5S practices
  • Oversee feedstock supply and waste disposal logistics
  • Ensure that all operations chemical consumables and operational consumables are stocked
  • Maintain equipment maintenance schedule and coordinate maintenance work with the facilities manager and maintenance mechanic
Preferred qualifications and skills:
  • Five+ years’ quality management experience in at least one of the following industries: Pharma, Food, Brewing, Fermentation.
  • Excellent project scheduling skills using industry standard scheduling software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Two+ years’ experience managing staff in a production environment
  • Ideally with a technical degree or diploma.
  • Record of maintaining high standards for safety, quality and operational efficiency
  • Flexibility and availability to work and respond to production issues on evenings and weekends.
  • Excellent verbal communication and personal interaction skills
