Job Description

OVERVIEWResponsible and accountable to the Manager of Interprofessional Practice for the provision of preparing and assisting patients with treatment modalities under the direction of the therapists. Assist patients with mobility and maintaining/improving their functional level.Education

  • Graduate from a recognized Community College OT/PT Assistant program.
Qualifications
  • 2 years acute care hospital based experience required.
  • Experience in medicine, surgery and geriatric care required.
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
  • Candidates with experience with orthopaedic and cardiorespiratory care will be given preference.
  • Ability to modify interventions quickly in accordance to changes in patient status required.
  • Ability to carry out directions of therapists.
  • Independent decision making skills required.
  • Exceptional patient centered care skills required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to function as an effective interdisciplinary team member.
  • Willingness to participate/lead health service councils and professional groups.
  • Motivated to practice in accordance with the mission and vision of hospital/health service.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and personal development.
  • Evening and weekend shifts may be necessary.
  • Good work and attendance record required.
