Job Description

CARQUEST Canada is seeking an experienced Payroll & Benefits Administrator.General Duties:

  • Preparation of wage and salary inputs for a biweekly payroll of approx. 2000 team members payroll using Workday
  • Reconciles accuracy of payroll accounts and prepares summary reports. Assists in the auditing of payroll funding on a biweekly basis, including net payroll and payroll tax liability
  • Processes biweekly hourly/salaried payroll for two Canadian companies; Reviews and processes special payroll runs when needed.
  • Communicates with HR team, field Management and coordinators on payroll-related matters
  • Perform periodic audits or analysis for various payroll data
  • Assists with payroll tax reporting and analysis to ensure compliance with local, provincial and federal regulations and to facilitate payroll tax return filings; provincial and federal
  • Performs monthly benefit audit and reconciliation of premiums
  • Benefit enrollment of new hires.
Required Skills:
  • Experience in general payroll processing in a fast paced environment, including tax processing and completion of T4s, ROEs, Rélévés, T2200s etc
  • Experience in accounts payable or other related accounting functions
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills as well as communications [written and verbal]; French an asset
  • Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, an ability to problem solve, and communicate effectively with Management, teammates across the organization.
  • Computer knowledge to include Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook.
Desired Skills:
  • Cross provincial payroll experience including Quebec
  • Certified Payroll Professional, PCP or working towards designation
  • Technical knowledge and proficiency in the WORKDAY payroll software system
  • Understanding of Union contracts and processes
  • Knowledge of Group Benefits and reconciliations
