Job Description

We currently have a Regular Full Time opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician in the Pharmacy - Odette Cancer Centre at our Bayview Campus.Hours of Work:Weekdays: Days; 8hrs; As per scheduleOccasional weekends, as per departmental needsSummary of DutiesThis position is an Information Technology support person, preferably someone with experience in a hospital environment and with experience dealing with pharmacy systems. The Odette Cancer Center pharmacy has a large staff who use multiple software systems to deliver clinical services to oncology patients. The range of duties will include: chemotherapy agents.

  • Primary contact for pharmacy staff and software vendors (of pharmacy software)
  • Serve as a support resource to resolve issues related to system problems
    • Liaise with Sunnybrook Helpdesk and Information services when necessary
  • Triage, troubleshoot, and investigate issues reported by users and escalated by support staff
  • Document application errors reported by user base and follow-up once resolution is available
  • UAT Testing - Test new developments/application features before they are implemented
  • Create and maintain documentation for new application features and related projects (requirement documents, work flow diagrams, training materials, etc.)
  • Analyze statistics on drug utilization, quality assurance, continuous quality improvement and other reportable data
  • Primary contact for OCC Pharmacy software listed in Service Catalogue
  • Maintain downtime procedures of pharmacy software
  • Maintain and address computer hardware issues
  • Assists with research projects
  • Coordinate with IS department to resolve issues with the LAN, Servers and Workstations
  • Advise on application back-up and recovery procedures
  • Advise on application hardware/software selection analysis
  • Ensure integration of multiple applications
  • Provide staff training on non-Sunnybrook corporate, pharmacy department software
  • Communicate application updates and addition of new features for general pharmacy staff
  • First point of contact for incoming calls for pharmacy staff technical issues, software vendors and Sunnybrook Information Services
  • Track and maintain reports for software issues and maintenance
  • Maintain list of electronic hardware items and details (desktops, laptops, printers, monitors etc.)
Qualifications/Skills
  • 2 years of related experience, preferably in implementation and/or support of clinical information systems in a hospital setting is an asset
  • Undergraduate degree, preferably in Information Technology
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong technical analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of information management, data warehousing, HL7
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft products (eg Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Self-motivated and able to take initiative
  • Reliable
  • Knowledge of Kroll Pharmacy computer system and retail pharmacy practice an asset
  • Able to work in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment
  • Project management experience an asset
