Now recognized as one of Toronto’s best examples of Art Moderne architecture, The Carlu has been designated as a National Historic Site of Canada and has played host to royalty on several occasions. As the preferred space for high profile social fetes, conventions, and corporate celebrations. Job DescriptionThe Porter is responsible for the setting up and tearing down the venue before and after an event, which involves moving objects such as, tables, chairs, decorations and event requirements in a safe and timely manner during non-business hours. In addition the Porter is also accountable for polishing, cleaning and maintaining the overall venue space.PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepare and setup a venue according to client requests
  • Lift and move heavy and light objects in a safe and timely manner
  • Tear down of venue after an event and ensure it is cleaned and maintained to O&B standards
  • Receive and signoff on materials/shipments from clients and couriers
  • Maintain cleanliness of venue before and after events
  • Comply with and act in accordance with all Health & Safety regulations
  • Additional duties as assigned or required
Qualifications
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a variable work load, ensuring safe, timely and accurate completion of assigned work
  • Able to work independently and part of a team
  • Able to listen and follow clear directions
  • Able to lift up to 50lbs
  • Available to work evenings, and with occasional overnight shifts
