We currently have a Temporary Part-time (0.2 FTE until approx. Nov. 2022) opportunity for a Porter in the Patient Transport department at our Bayview campus.Hours of Work:Weekdays: Relief when required; 8hrs; As per scheduleAlternating Weekends: Days, Evenings; 8hrs; As per scheduleOn-Call and Statutory Holidays RequiredSummary of DutiesTransports patients to various hospital locationsTimely transportation of patients for their appointmentsResponds to Emergency Codes as assigned or requiredAssists, lifts and positions patients to and from transport equipmentResponsible for the safety and well-being of the patient while in transitIf required, remains with the patient during examination/treatment proceduresRecords and/or reports data associated with patient transport detailsPerforms specimens handling servicePerforms patient related materials pickup/delivery duties such BRADMA, charts, pharmaceutical supplies, etc. as assignedInspects all transport equipment to ensure proper functioning and a high level of cleanliness, safety and adherence to Infection Prevention and Control requirementsOther duties as assigned such as mailroom functions and other non-patient related dutiesWill be re-assigned to other campuses as requiredQualifications/SkillsSuccessful completion of secondary school requiredProficiency with computer applicationsMinimum of 1 year experience interacting with patients in a health care setting requiredA minimum of 6 months recent Patient Transport Porter experience preferredRecent Multi-Campus Patient Transport Porter experience preferredAbility to work with minimal supervision, sense of urgency, customer/client focusedAbility to work under pressure and multi-taskDemonstrated good communication and interpersonal skillsDemonstrated ability to lift patients and to meet the physical demands of the position (standing and walking for extended periods of time)Understands the requirements of Infection Control & Prevention; the Health & Safety ActQualified candidates are invited to submit their cover letter and resume (in one document) quoting 211618 to:Human ResourcesSunnybrook Health Sciences CentreSunnybrook Health Sciences Centre is committed to providing accessible employment practices that are in compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
