A Post Doctoral Fellow (PDF) position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Cynthia T. Luk at the University of Toronto (Department of Medicine), St. Michael’s Hospital.Our research focuses on the role of cell signaling pathways in adipose tissue in the pathogenesis of diabetes, obesity, atherosclerosis and metabolic syndrome. We use a variety of molecular biology techniques and mouse models of diabetes and atherosclerosis. Potential projects may involve the study of cell-death or fibrosis-related pathways in adipose tissue and their role in glucose homeostasis, metabolism, atherosclerosis or metabolic syndrome.Dr. Luk is an Assistant Professor with a lab that opened in 2017. Our group consists of a senior research technician, graduate and undergraduate student(s). We are located in Toronto, Canada and fully affiliated with Unity Health Toronto, University of Toronto, and Banting and Best Diabetes Centre.Qualified candidates must hold a doctoral degree and have significant experience in molecular biology. Experience with rodent models, qRT-PCR, immunoblotting, histology, cell culture is preferred. Candidates will be responsible for their projects, applying for awards and funding, and will work closely with other members of the lab.
