About SPATULASPATULA is a Toronto-based food-tech startup looking to raise the bar on what convenient and great-tasting food should look like for Canadians. We plan to deliver gourmet, flash frozen meals, crafted by award-winning local chefs. Meals will be delivered right to our customer’s door, and can be heated up in minutes in a pan with the stir of a spatula. We want to give our customers the benefit of extreme convenience without sacrificing on taste. We’re looking to bring our product to market very soon, and are looking for a Prep Cook to join our culinary team. We are on a mission to reimagine frozen.We have a proven and experienced co-founding team. The team has held leadership roles at food-tech, food service, and CPG companies across Canada. Our culinary team has won competitions such as Chopped Canada and Top Chef Canada, and have cooked at restaurants such as Noma, Alinea, and Momofuku.SPATULA recently became a venture-backed company, and we’re ready to grow our team. We have a deep passion for creating great products, cooking amazing food, and having a ton of fun while doing it.About the RoleSPATULA is looking for a Prep Cook to join our culinary team. In this role, you will work with the Head Chef and the rest of the culinary team to bring the culinary vision of SPATULA to life. You will be responsible for preparing meal ingredients and supporting other kitchen responsibilities.We are looking for someone to join us to build SPATULA from the ground up, a team player with an owners’ mindset, who will roll up their sleeves and help with any task, no matter how big or small. This is an ideal position for an individual who may be looking to transition out of traditional restaurant or food service and into food products, production, and food tech.What You’ll Do

  • Work to support the chefs to measure, mix, and prepare meal ingredients
  • Wash, chop and cut meat, vegetables, and other meal ingredients
  • Portion, weigh, and pack finished meals
  • Organizing dry and cold storage shelves
  • Supporting inventory count for food orders
  • Assisting in waste management and disposing of spoiled items when necessary
  • Assisting in full kitchen clean down and adhering to routine sanitation practices.
Who You Are
  • Entry level cook with 2+ years of experience
  • Have a strong passion for amazing food
  • Have a deep sense of accountability
  • Ability to spot and resolve problems efficiently
  • Must have great communication skills
  • Culinary Degree / Diploma or related certificate preferred but not necessarily required
CompensationThis is a full-time role. In addition to hourly salary, we will also be offering equity as a part of the total compensation package. The value of the package will be vary based on level of experience and degree of commitment to building this startup with the culinary team.Job Types: Full-time, PermanentSalary: $18.00 per hourAdditional pay:
