Job Description

We are seeking a seasoned Principal Java Developer to drive critical business initiatives, lead high-stakes projects, and mentor teams toward achieving impactful outcomes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in cloud systems and web services, combined with demonstrated leadership in delivering complex, scalable solutions. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and contribute to key team-level business outcomes and strategic initiatives.
  • Own critical business goals, aligning team efforts with overarching company objectives.
  • Drive impactful collaborations across teams beyond the immediate organization.
  • Lead and deliver large-scale, complex projects involving multiple engineers and cross-functional teams.
  • Remove roadblocks and provide strategic guidance to the team and broader colleagues.
  • Clarify ambiguous project requirements, plan and execute detailed scopes, and ensure timely, quality deliverables.
  • Actively participate in and lead transformative initiatives within Autodesk Platform Services.
  • Own platform capabilities, including engineering practices, solution design, quality, deployment, and support.
  • Advocate for and implement improved engineering practices and quality standards.
  • Lead incident response, ensuring timely resolution, root cause analysis, and preventive actions.
  • Balance diverse requirements as a Product Owner, considering architectural roadmaps and product management inputs.
  • Mentor and develop technical talent, fostering a culture of learning and growth.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor #39;s or Master #39;s in Computer Science Engineering or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in software design, development, and consulting in cloud systems or web services, with 3+ years in a leadership role.
  • Proven success in leading the delivery of commercial cloud products.
  • Strong expertise in incident management, root cause analysis, and preventive solution implementation.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to present complex technical ideas to diverse audiences.
  • Sound understanding of business drivers and their alignment with technical solutions.
  • Proven mentorship and technical talent development skills.
  • Hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, and AWS or other cloud providers.
  • Expertise in API development (REST, GraphQL, gRPC) and object-oriented design patterns.
  • Familiarity with additional languages such as Go or TypeScript.
  • Experience with SDLC processes, Agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and tools like Jenkins.
  • Strong database management skills with cloud-scale solutions.
  • Proven track record of building scalable, cloud-based systems and services.
