Job Description

Are you interested in modernizing service delivery by providing clients easy-to-use, accessible and digitally enabled licences and permits The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF), Modernization and Business Improvement Office is looking a service driven individual skilled in translating business requirements into IT solutions. Working in a small team, the ideal candidate will lead work with internal staff and software developers performing user acceptance testing and quality assurance testing, lead assigned components of major projects.About UsThe Modernization and Business Improvement Office (MBIO) oversees and supports the development and implementation of the ministrys plans related to modernizing and improving business programs to ensure efficient service delivery.   • Undertake policy and issues analysis and participates in and/or leads assigned projects in support of short- and medium-term ministry initiatives
  • Prepare research reports, summaries, risk analyses and statistics to assist senior staff and project teams in the development of detailed operational practices, processes and program delivery approaches
  • Support business analysis including risk analysis, financial analysis, value analysis; business process benchmarking and improvement/re-engineering
  • Prepare operational guidelines and training manuals to assist ministry staff in the implementation of new/revised programs and procedures
How do I qualifyProject Management SkillsYou can:
  • Apply knowledge of project management techniques and methodologies to define and scope projects, establish approaches and plans, monitor progress, and identify issues
  • Manage multiple projects and teams to deliver and meet timelines
Policy and Program KnowledgeYou have:
  • Experience in program and policy development and can provide options and recommendations for new and revised policies/ programs
  • Knowledge of decision-making and approval processes
Research and Analytical SkillsYou can:
  • Assess the effectiveness of new ministry initiatives, programs, and strategies and to provide recommendations
  • Apply research and analytical techniques, including determining appropriate data and information resources, data collection, survey techniques, analyzing and summarizing quantitative and qualitative research and environmental scans from multi-jurisdictional sources, trend analyses, and preparing analytical reports
  • Apply business analytics including financial, risk and value analysis
Interpersonal and Communication SkillsYou have:
  • Relationship management skills to develop and maintain business relationships and create positive collaboration on projects
  • Advisory and consultation skills to contribute to working groups and to exchange information, discuss issues, gain support and liaise with other branches/ministries/stakeholders
  • Conflict resolution and facilitations skills to work with teams in identifying potential issues and problems and contributing to formulation of solutions
  • Presentation skills to provide research findings to senior staff
  • Written communication and computer application skills to draft policy papers, briefing notes, correspondence, and learning products using appropriate computer applications (e.g. Word, Excel, project management tools etc)
