From the initial site selection, consultation and regulatory approval, through the construction, operation and maintenance phases, to conclusion and environmental cleanup, Vertex offers a diverse range of services throughout the life cycle of our clients’ projects.OVERVIEWVertex is currently accepting applications for a Project Manager - Environment in the Greater Toronto Area of Ontario. Candidates in Southwest Ontario (Waterloo, London, or Sarnia) would be considered. The successful candidate will be a key member Vertex’s team responsible for leading the execution of projects and expanding our current client base and supporting growth of the Ontario region.CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geo-Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering or equivalent
  • Professional designation and experience to qualify as a Qualified Person in Ontario
  • 5+ years of related experience in managing and coordinating environmental site assessments, excess soil programs and remediation projects
  • Experience on projects including excess soil components under O.Reg. 406/19 or downstream Oil and Gas sites Experience managing client expectations and relationships working to enhance client relationships through project execution;
  • Working relationship with key regulatory bodies in Ontario
RESPONSIBILITIESThe primary responsibilities for this position will include project management, scope of work development, field work coordination and reporting for land development, construction contractor and public sector clients while working closely with clients, third party vendors, regulators and other Vertex staff.
  • Manage Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments to CSA and O.Reg.153/04 requirements;
  • Develop conceptual site models, data gap analyses and subsequent environment assessment and remediation scopes of work to reduce liability at contaminated sites
  • Work with Vertex’s Risk Management group to implement appropriate guidelines on a site specific basis or complete risk assessments
  • Assist clients in multiple sectors with the implementation of O.Reg.406/19 Excess Soil Management;
  • Prepare technical documents including proposals, work plans, reports, and client correspondence;
  • Complete review of technical reports;
  • Manage client accounts including direct client contact, project resourcing, project execution from proposal to completion, including budget and timeline management.
