Job Description

Hamilton Kent is a multinational manufacturer and distributor of resilient-rubber, watertight, sealing systems and components, offering design and development, production, testing, warehousing, and shipping.Do not miss the opportunity to join an engaging team of people-centric professionals, leaders, problem solvers, entrepreneurs in spirit and status quo-fighters!The QA Co-Op Student Technician shall follow all relevant working procedures, perform testing and calibration at defined intervals and all related administrative work.PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Proper operation of lab testing equipment
  • Conduct internal calibration as requested
  • Perform physical property testing (including sample preparation) for R&D, Engineering & OEM
  • Compression set
  • Tensile strength testing (initial and aging)
  • Elongation testing (initial and aging)
  • Hardness tests
  • Tear resistance
  • Water / Oil Absorption test
  • Chemical Resistance tests
  • Permanent Set at break
  • Recovery (Tensile set) test
  • Compression Curve test
  • Specific gravity
  • Ozone resistance test
  • Low Temperature Hardness test
  • Effect of Elastomer on Pipe
  • Any other testing when required by R&D, OEM and Engineering.
  • Fill out all required records (test reports, etc.) completely and clearly, and file the reports properly
  • Prepare Low Temperature Brittleness testing samples and submit to Compound Development Manager for testing by suppliers if requested
  • Other specialized functions when they are needed
HEALTH AND SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Adhere to all pertinent federal, provincial and local health and safety legislative requirements.
  • Report all accidents, regardless of how minor
  • Work in accordance with the occupational health and safety policy, and all site-specific health and safety requirements (employee handbook).
  • Report all unsafe conditions to Quality Supervisor
  • Wear all required safety equipment
  • Review and follow all health and safety procedures
  • Not make any safety device inoperable
  • Not conduct any unsafe work
Requirements
  • Good mathematical skills
  • Excellent knowledge of MS office products
  • Knowledge of Minitab is an asset
  • Attending a QA relevant post-secondary program
COMPLEXITY & JUDGEMENT
  • Able to regularly encounter differing complex problems, which requires judgement to analyze and identify alternative course of action where established procedures / polices may not exist.
